The program\u2019s\u00a0purpose is to create a dynamic environment for middle school students that fosters\u00a0resilience and helps them develop confidence, positive self-esteem, and a growth\u00a0mindset. The goal of the program is to match students with supports that allow\u00a0them to develop and flourish.<\/p>\n<p>The Student Resilience &amp; Empowerment\u00a0Center is a county-level program to help\u00a0students improve their academic and social\u00a0development. The program is individualized\u00a0to meet student needs. Below are\u00a0general program highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 week program (or more), 5 days a week, 2 1\/2 hours per day<\/li>\n<li>Includes transportation to and from school, as well as a snack<\/li>\n<li>No expense to the family, family participation opportunities, free membership to the Battle Creek Family YMCA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center; padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #0057b8;\"><b>\"We greatly appreciate our partnership with STARR on The REC program, which has improved students' ability to access their education by providing them with the skills they need to be successful in school.\u00a0 In line with our equity imperative, the REC program is successfully closing the opportunity gaps for many of the students it serves, helping us to make progress on our goal of reducing and eventually eliminating the use of exclusionary practices.\"<br \/>\n<\/b>- Kimberly M. TTS is an innovative, anti-poverty approach that treats poverty as a treatable condition rather than a character flaw, helping participants build stability and long-term success through personalized support, coordinated care, and community resources. Certified TTS Coaches work one-on-one with youth to identify goals and dreams, connect them with the resources they need, and navigate the social determinants of health that affect their lives.
